Minister of Interior Lt. has debunked allegation of N1billion donation to the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association to lure bandits to stop their activities in the north west and north east.
He described the minister as fabrication and a figment of the imagination of writers targeted to downgrade efforts of the federal government towards ending the menace of banditry in the affected states.
Dambazau spoke at the Emir of Anka’s palace Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed Muhammad in Anka local government of Zamfara state during a condolence visit at the instance of President Muhammad Buhari on Monday.
The Minister assured their travails will soon be over, promising city and rural dwellers will soon go back to their normal activities.
He explained more measures to curtail the criminal activities of bandits that kill, maim and rape innocent citizens have been taken.
The Emir said their ordeals started from when some residents who call themselves “Yan sa Kai” organised themselves as a group and launched extra judicial killings on Fulani kingpins when cattle rustlers started their nefarious acts in the 1990’s.
“At that time there was only cattle rustlers who had their camp and dens in the forest, who rustled cattle.
“This group of Yan SA Kai later organised themselves and appointed a leader who has a sort of magic stick, they visited town and villages on market days.
“When he pointed the magic stick to any person of his choice, they labeled that person instantly a cattle rustler, hacked him to pieces and burnt his flesh in front of everyone after removing his ear,” the Emir stated.
He stressed 98 percent of victims are Fulanis, an act he said some politicians used to incite the Fulanis against the Hausa by telling them that the Hausa wants to eliminate the Fulani in their domains.
The Fulanis, according to him, started migrating, adding that when the extra judicious killing continued, they organised themselves and started contributing money to buy all sorts of guns.
They started converging and attacking the group of Yan Sa Kai killing each one they come across themselves.
The emir said it was sad to see people accusing traditional rulers of aiding bandits when they are the ones cooling up the situation in their capacities.
