The new caretaker Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, otherwise known as MC Oluomo, has described the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as his father, leader and mentor.
He further thanked the APC leader for supporting him to emerge as the leader of the NURTW in the state.
Oluomo said this in an appreciation message he posted on his official Instagram handle on Thursday.
The NURTW boss also thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and some traditional rulers in the state for supporting his candidature.
Oluomo also thanked the leaders of his party, the APC, for supporting him to achieve his dream.
He wrote, “My utmost appreciation goes to Almighty Allah for his benevolence and grace and for making a day like this a reality. I cannot but also thank my father, my leader, my mentor His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his love and support towards my emergence as the NURTW chairman. He is truly a father and a father indeed.
“My appreciation also goes to His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, executive governor of Lagos State for creating a conducive environment (sic) and for encouraging peaceful transition of the NURTW leadership mantle in Lagos State.
“My appreciation will not be complete without acknowledging Oba Saheed Elegushi, Oba Kabiru Adelaja Agbabiaka Olufemiloye Osolo of Isolo kingdom to other royal fathers, the leader, the incumbent President, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, APC elders and leaders in Lagos state, APC elders and leaders in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, members of NURTW Lagos Council and the good people of Oshodi/Isolo and environs. I thank you all for your sincere support, prayers, advice and encouragement.”
The NURTW leader promised to carry out his duties with all sense of humility.
He promised to promote a peaceful, business-friendly and secure Lagos State all would be proud to call home.
Oluomo urged all other NURTW caretaker members to be supportive and cooperative as we embark on the mission of rebranding NURTW nationwide and Lagos State chapter in particular.
The NURTW in Lagos State has become notorious for extortion of money from commercial drivers and shop owners and have become untouchable due to the cover they receive from politicians and security agents.
The union has also been known to perpetrate acts of violence which has led to the death of many in recent years.
Oluomo himself was stabbed several times at an APC rally in January 2019 during a fracas with another faction of the union.
His trusted sidekick Olayinka Mamowora, aka Mamok, was stabbed to death in 2015 while another prominent NURTW member in his Oshodi/Isolo community, Rasaq Bello, popularly known as Hamburger, was shot dead in Shogunle during the local council primaries of the APC in 2017.
